ABOUT THE AUTHOR
An industrial engineer whose passion for writing never ceased. And as time went by, she fell in love with travel.
A friend said, "If only you could use the certificates you got from your extreme activities as work credentials, you'd surely be hired." Some call her idea of happiness "buwis buhay". She'd never miss out on chances for extreme adventures. Her lifelong cherished moments are conquering The Skywalk in Cebu, plunging headfirst in EAT Danao's The Plunge, riding The Abyss in Hongkong Ocean Park alone, being able to try scuba diving though she does not know how to swim (thanks to the guide), ziplining in all allowed positions, accomplishing the cave connection in Sagada, and being able to ride the G-Max Reverse Bungy and GX-5 Extreme Swing at Singapore, among others.
She also does mountaineering, and her greatest accomplishment so far was being able to stay alive after conquering Mt. Apo, the Philippines' highest peak while it had rained non-stop on a supposedly summer month. "Buwis buhay" could never be better defined than her Mt. Apo experience. She had also braved the -4 degrees centigrade temperature of Mt. Pulag, Luzon's highest peak, on safety shoes. Her first climb was Mt. Banahaw in 2007. Don't expect much from her, though. Her mountaineering skills abide by the line "Ain't about how fast I get there" from Miley Cyrus' "The Climb".
While she joins package tours, she enjoys DIY tours better. Her self-made itineraries make it possible for her to maximize her trip to a given place because she could do whatever she wants to accomplish, and at the lowest possible cost. She absolutely loves creating her own itineraries - even to places that she had not been to before. Among her DIY tours are Hongkong-Macau, Marinduque (together with Boots), Singapore-Kuala Lumpur, and Bantayan Island. What's her idea of an ultimate get-away? A do-it-yourself trip to a place that is actually nice but remains undiscovered by numerous tourists.
If she joins package tours, no matter how much time she'd spend, she'd definitely research on the cheapest tour provider that offers the best itinerary.
Despite her extreme activities, in the real world, she remains a normal (if not sickly) girl. People who know her personally would all affirm that her looks are deceiving. She is a deliberately picky eater and is afraid of some types of animals. She doesn't have a sense of direction, and she doesn't have a sense of balance. She can't ride a bike and she doesn't know how to swim. Her skills in sports (of any kind) is below zero.
Her dream is to be able to skydive, even once in her lifetime.
ABOUT THE BLOG
"Love conquers all." She always tells herself and her friends that she travels to "find her heart". It may be a laughing matter that even she was stunned and delighted to find out that this would actually happen. While completely immersed with her love for travel and adventure and pushing herself to her limits, she met the love of her life, her equally adventurous male counterpart, her now default travel buddy, her Boots, in a place as surreal as anyone could imagine - no less than Mt. Apo, the Philippines' highest peak. While conquering her greatest accomplishment, she also found her heart. And the irony of it all, their residence back in Manila is so close to each other, yet they both had to outdo themselves just to find each other. Since then, she realized that love really conquers all - literally and figuratively.
Through this blog, she will be able to do her first love-writing, and share her experiences about her learned love-travel and adventure. As they say, spread the love!
Very inspiring biography.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could do half of your extreme adventures. Just take extra care when you do that. More safe and happy travels for you.
Thank you, Freddie. Once I have the time, I'd post about the details of these extreme adventures. I know you could do it, too. I wish you the same - happy travels, and I'm looking forward to read more of your travel stories in Canada. :)
DeleteCool blog.
ReplyDeleteHave you been to Unib, Dinagat Island? It's the best place in the Philippines! Better than Palawan. Hehehe
Thank you Neil! :) I haven't been to Unib, Dinagat Island yet. Davao is the only Mindanao location I've reached so far, but we're planning to go to Surigao next year. I checked the pics and it's lovely. Thank you for the suggestion! :)

ReplyDeletewoww, very well said biography and I so love reading your posts. I´ll come here often. Just like the other travel bloggers I read lately, you awaken the wanderlust in me. I love travelling, too, but my "paperless" situation put it into a halt. Hope to be back on the road soon. Keep travelling and God bless.
God bless you, too! I'm also on a "travel leave" as of the moment. Hope to see you on the road someday!:)
