Promo Alert: Because a Stingy Thrill-seeker Needs to Protect Her Skin, Too

I loved the compliments I received from readers when I posted my photos during my "not-so-haggard" moments in this blog. Most readers have followed this blog because of my mountaineering posts and I have to admit that my photos there were not the photos to keep you stunned as I was down and dirty but even if I get muddy at times, I'm proud to say (and thankful) that I have been gifted with low-maintenance clear skin that does not seem to age (Guess how old I am!).

Legoland Malaysia: Designed for Kids (and Kids at Heart)

I have booked the flight to Singapore last July 29, 2012, ultimately having the goal of enjoying the trip using close to zero budget. I have listed free attractions that we could enjoy, when some time early in September, Boots told me that we're going to spend one full day at a destination where I would be excited and raring to go.

Birthday Freebie Number 3: Gardens by the Bay

Okay, this third part of my Singapore budget birthday challenge is not a birthday privilege. I decided to end the day at Gardens by the Bay because photos of it never failed to fascinate me. Unlike my admission at Singapore Zoo and Jurong Bird Park which was a birthday privilege, Gardens by the Bay is actually free for everyone - the outdoor gardens, at least. Hence, it still played an important part in my budget birthday challenge. :)

Birthday Freebie Number 2: Jurong Bird Park

By now, it's obvious that I challenged myself to enjoy Singapore on my birthday the cheapest way possible. In creating this itinerary, I searched for Singapore's free attractions but luckily, I came across the Birthday Special of Singapore Zoo and Jurong Bird Park. These attractions are not normally free, but since it's my birthday, I got a complimentary birthday pass just by having the guts of approaching the ticketing office and saying "Hey, it's my birthday", and presenting my passport.

Birthday Freebie Number 1: Singapore Zoo

If you have been reading this blog, by now, you know how stingy I am. For my birthday, all I wanted was to spend the whole weekend with him - the cheapest way that I could. Thankfully, Singapore LOVES birthdays - no matter if you're a citizen or not. Hence, there are attractions in Singapore which offers birthday specials, i.e. free admission on your birthday. Having researched about this ahead of time, I made sure to include these places in the itinerary.

Birthday Realizations on a Solo Plane Ride

October 5, 2012. Check-in time 8:15 PM. ETD 10:15 PM. ETA 1:45 AM.

Those were my departure flight details. For the first time, I traveled by plane alone. It seemed as an initiation for something, because I spent 12:00 midnight of October 6, 2012 on the plane by myself to welcome my birthday.

University of the Philippines Diliman - Where I Learned to Walk

in Sunken Garden, University of the Philippines, Diliman | November 19, 2011
Before entering college, I was really not into traveling. I'd rather hurry home after school to watch animes or play computer games. My life was confined within home and school - a school which was just one pedicab ride away from our house.

Thankful for the Blog's First Ever Recognition as one of the Top Emerging Influential Blogs for 2012

I fondly remember something I did around five months ago when I was still clueless on how to go about this blogging thing. I wrote with only my close friends as readers, and was elated when I reached a record-high (during that time) of 35 unique pageviews for the day when I wrote about our annual high school reunion's twelfth year, which used to be my only "trip" for the previous years. I loved to write, but honestly, the fact that the readers were next to nothing almost caused me to lose my motivation to blog.
