Where to Buy Pasalubong in Davao

"Uwian mo ako ng suha", was my mom's ultimate reminder to me before our Davao trip.

Aside from suha (pomelo), Davao is mostly known for its durian, which is a normal sought-after pasalubong despite its weird smell (some people call it stinky but for some reason, I don't find anything bad about its smell. I think it's smell is not bad, just uncommon). A tip: Having durian in your carry-on luggage is strictly prohibited, so make sure to have check-in baggage allowance if you want to fly your durian home.

Things to Do in Davao: Visit Crocodile Park

Davao Crocodile Park
During our Davao trip, we were able to go to Crocodile Park three times. First was on our first day, to get the tickets for Zip City and Wildwater Adventure; second was on the rafting day itself, as Crocodile Park was the meeting place for the Wildwater Adventure. Third was after the Wildwater Adventure, when the shuttle service took us back to where they fetched us.

Things to Do in Davao: Explore Eden Nature Park

EDEN NATURE PARK
Mt. Talomo, Toril, Davao City
Eden Nature Park
Going to Eden Nature Park was not an original part of our itinerary but since we heard from friends that it was worth visiting and since we did not have anything to do on our fourth day (right before the flight), we found a way to squeeze a visit to Eden Nature Park in our actual itinerary.

Things to Do in Davao: Whitewater Rafting

whitewater rafting in Davao, Philippines
I made my statement clear: I would not join the Davao trip if we would not pursue whitewater rafting.

Things to Do in Davao: Scuba Diving in Samal

Samal Island, Davao, Philippines
We only have one item for the day: Head to Samal Island.

Things to Do in Davao: Fly in Zip City

I'm flying!
A zipline ride in Davao's Zip City was part of the package we bought for the Wildwater Adventure in Davao. Since we did not have any activity on the afternoon upon arrival, I asked if it was feasible that the two activities be done on separate dates, and that we pursue the Zip City prior to the white water rafting. Thankfully, it could be done. We just had to get our tickets (for Zip City and for Wildwater Adventure) in Crocodile Park on the day that we arrive.

Nayong Pilipino sa Clark Expo: a Pleasant Detour

deprived
There are times when no matter how well-prepared your itinerary is, things do happen and you have to think of a back-up plan on the spot. This was just one of those times.

The real plan was to witness the 16th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Festival in Clark, Pampanga. The plan was to meet at 4:00 AM at a bus terminal in Cubao so as to arrive just in time for the hot air balloons' flight (flight starts at 5:30 AM). Due to an unfortunate circumstance, we arrived a little too late and were not able to see the balloons as they were inflated - they had all gone up, up, and away, save for three plain hot air balloons (I later found out that these balloons have failed to take-off due to technical problems).
